Astronomy class

Have you ever wanted to understand the mysteries of our Universe? Are you a sky and space lover? Or you would just like to get familiar with the night sky? Then our astronomy classes are for you!

The classes are given by an astrophysicist. You will learn and understand the history and evolution of the Universe. Take a journey from the Earth to the limits of the Universe and discover the beauty of the night sky.

Here are some examples of topics we will study:
– The solar system (planets and objects from our solar system)
– The Earth in the solar system (seasons, eclipses, Moon-Earth system)
– The constellations (presentation, mythology, how to find them)
– Galaxies (the milky way and its neighbours, formation and évolution)
– The night sky objects (star clusters, nebula…)
– Astronomy instruments (telescopes, mounts…)

Classes are given at the « école-club Migros » in Geneva (http://www.ecole-club.ch/) and at the « Ecole et quartier » association in Versoix (http://aeqv.ch/).

Astronomy for the public

You are interested in astronomy and you want to learn more about it?

Discover the activities offered by Astro Leman.
From classes where you will learn about astronomy mysteries to the use of equipment, from reading a night sky chart to observations, you will inevitably find something for you.

Astro-team: think and create

Build your team and embark on an interstellar trip.

– We will start with a presentation of the sky and space illustrated with the latest astronomy images to discover the solar system, constellations, galaxies and much more.
– The first challenge proposed a quiz that will bring us from the Earth to the borders of the Universe.
– Then teams will then have to use their creativity and their presentation skills to share their new astronomy knowledge with their colleagues in a second challenge.

Based on the results of the two challenges the winning team will receive an astronomical prize.

The animation will finish with an observation session:
*Sun observation if the animation is during the day.
*Moon, planets and night sky (according to their visibility) if the animation is in the evening.

Available options:
– We can organise lunch/dinner with a local restaurant.
– We can provide a personalised star wheel for each participant with the logo of your company or any other image.

Astro-Team: reflexion et créativité

Formez vos équipes et embarquez pour un voyage interstellaire.

– Tout commence par une présentation du ciel et de l’espace richement illustré. Découvrez le système solaire, les constellations, les galaxies et bien plus encore.
– Un premier défi sera alors lancé et fera appel à la réflexion par le biais d’un quiz qui nous emmènera de la terre aux confins de l’Univers!
– Puis un second défi astronomique fera appel à la créativité et aux talents de présentateur des participants. Il faudra être imaginatif et savoir convaincre leurs collègues.

A l’issue de ces deux défis, l’équipe qui sera désignée gagnante se verra remettre un prix, comme il se doit, astronomique.

– L’animation se terminera par une observation du ciel:
Observation du Soleil si l’animation se fait en journée.
Observation de la Lune, de planètes et des objets du ciel nocturne (en fonction de leur visibilité) si l’animation se fait en soirée.

En option:
– Nous pouvons organiser le repas en partenariat avec un restaurant local.
– Nous pouvons vous proposer des cartes du ciel mobile personnalisées pour chaque participant avec le logo de votre entreprise ou tout autre visuel.
